DUNMORE, AB — People in Dunmore are being asked to complete a survey about solid waste collection in the hamlet.

Cypress County is in the process of getting a new solid waste contract for Desert Blume, and after hearing from the people in Dunmore asking for the service, it was decided to conduct the survey and gauge the level of interest.

If there’s enough interest, the county felt it would make sense to do a contract for both Desert Blume and Dunmore.

Communications assistant Sean Rooney says the survey is available on the county website, or in person at the office in Dunmore.

“We’ve got a list of seven questions, very simple yes or no answers,” says Rooney

“We basically want to know, do you want to have solid waste pickup here, if so do you want it to include recycling, would you be OK with $40 as a cost, sort of a preliminary cost we’ve put together and also gauging whether people know their current options,” adds Rooney.

The county is pleased with the level of engagement already, with 100 surveys completed so far.

The survey is open until Nov. 1.
