Two youths arrested in connection to Taber corn stand robbery

TABER, AB – The Taber Police Service has apprehended two youths in connection to an armed robbery at a local corn stand.

Officers were called to the business at around 5:45 pm on Sept. 12. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, officers apprehended a 14-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy from Taber.

Charges pending against the 12-year-old include robbery with an offensive weapon, pointing a firearm or a replica thereof, committing an indictable offense while disguised, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

A charge of aiding and abetting a robbery with an offensive weapon is pending for the 14-year-old.

The names of the suspects cannot be released due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Taber police chief Graham Abela thanked the public for their assistance in locating the suspects.

“Since this call came in, the police officers and staff of the Taber Police Service have diligently been working these past 22 hours to locate evidence to identify the parties allegedly responsible for this serious crime,” reads a social media post by Abela.
