Alberta Justice Minister Tyler Shandro has asked for the head of the province’s Human Rights Commission to resign.
Lawyer Collin May was appointed chief of the commission earlier this year.
It later came to light that May had made comments in 2009 about Islam not being a peaceful religion, and he was supposed to meet with Muslim leaders.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims says the meetings never happened and that May also issued letters threatening to sue his critics.
