Carry Drive road work moving to final stage

Sep 7, 2022 | 10:33 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The summer-long project to rehabilitate Carry Drive SE is moving to its final stage this week.

Starting on Sept. 8, the intersection at Ross Glen Drive and Carry Drive will be closed and will stay closed until the top layer of paving is finished for the remaining sections of the project, says the City of Medicine Hat.

Weather permitting, paving should be completed by Sept. 23, and Carry Drive will reopen to traffic.

Traffic will detour along Southview Drive, Cameron Road and Ross Glen Way during this final phase.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signs and detours and can watch for further updates at medicinehat.ca/carrydrive.

The four-stage rehabilitation of Carry Drive stretched from the top of Scholten Hill to the Cameron Road intersection. The work, which began in July, included removing and replacing the pavement surface, upgrading the curve and intersections at Southview Drive and Ross Glen Drive and removing and replacing damaged concrete surfaces where necessary.

Crews also took advantage of the road work to add and replace damaged storm water infrastructure.

Line painting and landscape restoration will take place this fall but will not require road closures.
