MLA looking for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal nominations

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A special medal to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s ascension to the throne is available to Albertans who have made significant contributions to the province.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal will be awarded to 7,000 Albertans throughout 2022. MLA Drew Barnes has put out the call for nominations from his Cypress-Medicine Hat constituency.

To be eligible you must be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada, have been alive on Feb. 6, 2022, and have made a significant contribution to Canada, Alberta or a particular region of Alberta, community or field.

The province would also like to see particular focus on finding recipients who played a significant role in Alberta’s COVID-19 response at the local level and/or provided significant volunteer service at the local level.

Nominations can be made at at drewbarnes.ca or by emailing cypress.medicinehat@assembly.ab.ca.

All nominations will be confidential and must be for individuals. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Nominators are asked to submit their name, contact info and the reasons for the nomination.
