Charges laid after gun allegedly pulled in Ross Glen

MEDICINE HAT, AB – One man faces numerous weapons charges after an incident in a southeast neighbourhood early on Saturday morning.

Medicine Hat Police Service say they received a complaint of two suspicious men near Ross Glen Road and Ross Haven Avenue. Police say that according to a 911 call, at about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 13 one man pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at a passing car after a brief verbal exchange with the occupants of that vehicle.

Police located two individuals matching the descriptions provided to police and they were immediately taken into custody. Jonah Perrin, 27, was found in possession of a loaded 9mm Glock pistol with an additional loaded magazine on his person.

After a bail hearing on Aug. 14, Perrin was released with several pre-trial conditions prohibiting him from attending the area of the water park in Ross Glen, possessing any firearms or other weapons and that he must surrender any other firearms of his to police. He can also not associate with the second man, who is not charged in this event, present at the time of the offences.

Perrin’s next court date is Sept. 8 in Medicine Hat. He is charged with:

  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Possess Firearm in unauthorized Place
  • Possess Loaded Firearm
  • Posses Weapon Dangerous to Public
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
