LAKE LOUISE, AB – Crews spent much of the morning on Friday, August 12, 2022, getting traffic back into order after part of a highway collapsed.

511 Alberta reports that there is a washout on Highway 93 near the North Saskatchewan River. The area is approximately 95 km north of Lake Louise by the Sunset Pass Trailhead.

“High water levels in the North Saskatchewan River causing road instability in a section of the 93N,” reads an update on 511 Alberta.

The organization says the washout is no longer affecting traffic, but the lane remains damaged.

Banff National Park said in a tweet that one lane of the highway is closed and traffic is single-lane-alternating.

LNN has reached out to officials for further information. Check 511 Alberta for updated road conditions.
