Aug 4, 2022 | 3:44 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the City of Medicine Hat, Cypress County, County of Forty Mile and County of Newell.

Environment Canada says a few thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon.

Conditions are favourable for some of these thunderstorms to become severe, causing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
