The previous agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2018. The new agreement is for a four-year term from Jan. 1, 2019 until Dec. 31, 2022.

The mediator’s recommendation includes general wage adjustments in each year of the agreement, with increases of 1.5 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2019; 1.5 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2020; 2.5 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2021; and 2.5 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2022.

In a statement to CHAT News, managing director Dennis Egert says:

“The negotiation process was completed in good faith and is a fair agreement for both the City, as well as the union, based on recommendations provided by a mediator, which took into account the general economic conditions in Alberta. We are pleased with the outcome, as well as the constructive, respectful nature of the discussions, and look forward to continuing our working relationship with the association.”
