‘We can always use more’: volunteers integral to Stampede success

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat’s biggest event of the summer is a reminder of the volunteer spirit that flows in our community.

Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede staff and board members will tell you that almost nothing happens on the grounds without the help of volunteers.

Board member Marni Fisher says that during Stampede week there are more than 500 volunteers helping out, but adds they can always use more.

She says helping out at the rodeo, all-breed horse show or exhibits like Country in the City is a great way to get involved in the community and learn a little about the western lifestyle

“But there’s also lots of opportunities to volunteer in things like Kiddies Day, Pioneer Village, definitely in the grandstand we use volunteers that help with ushering people, helping them find their seats,” she says. “There’s just such a variety of things that our volunteers run on these grounds, we can always use more.”
