City looks to Clear Horizon

Jul 5, 2022 | 5:21 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Nearly a year after the city announced its intention to become the second hydrogen hub in Canada, they now have their eyes on Clear Horizon, a proposed carbon capture utilization and storage hub in Medicine Hat.

At last night’s council meeting, council voted to support the early-stage development and evaluation on the project. A total of $11 million in reallocated funds will be going towards it.

Mayor Linnsie Clark says she’s excited for what could come.

“At this point, we are in an exploratory phase, and we think it is really important to explore the carbon capture utilization and storage, as a business retention and expansion opportunity for the city,” she said.

The city says another announcement regarding hydrogen will take place on July 6, where the results of a hydrogen feasibility study will be made public.
