Saskatchewan wants to add up to 200 addictions treatment spaces

Jul 4, 2022 | 10:53 AM

Saskatchewan is seeking proposals for new addictions treatment spaces.

The health ministry and Saskatchewan Health Authority have opened a procurement process for between 150 and 200 spaces throughout the province.

The ministry currently funds 475 beds.

Everett Hindley, the minister for mental health and addictions, says addressing wait times and access to treatment and supports for substance use disorders is a priority.

Hindley says a key element will be the ability to provide patients with wrap-around, holistic, evidence-based and non-stigmatizing services.
