Redcliff RCMP investigate crash that killed one man and injured another

REDCLIFF, AB – Redcliff RCMP are investigating a car crash that killed one man and injured another near the Hamlet of Schuler.

At 6:47 p.m. on June 30, 2022, RCMP received a call for a serious collision involving a semi tractor-trailer and a motor vehicle. The crash happened on Highway 41 between Township Roads 160 and 163.

It is believed the tractor-trailer was hauling flammable liquid when it collided head-on with a northbound passenger vehicle.

Redcliff RCMP, Cypress Country Fire and Halo Air Ambulance all attended the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle, 29-year-old man from Alberta,was pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 64-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours as the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist investigated the incident and clean up took place.

The investigation is on going, but Redcliff RCMP says no further updates are expected.
