BUDAPEST, Hungary — Canada’s Summer McIntosh has won gold in the women’s 200-metre butterfly competition at the world aquatics championships.

The 15-year-old from Toronto finished first with a time of two minutes 5.20 seconds, lowering the world junior record she set in Tuesday’s semifinals.

Hali Flickinger of the United States was second in 2:06.08, followed by Olympic champion Zhang Yufei of China (2:06.32).

It’s the second medal for McIntosh at the event. She took silver in the 400 freestyle on Saturday.

McIntosh had two fourth-place finishes at last year’s Tokyo Olympics and won a gold and two silver medals at the 2021 short-course championships last December in Abu Dhabi.
