Rebecca Schulz resigns cabinet job to run for UCP leadership
Another United Conservative cabinet minister is joining the race to become the party’s new leader and the province’s next premier.
Rebecca Schulz, MLA for Calgary-Shaw, says if elected she’ll work day in and day out to defeat the NDP in the next election. She says she’ll defend Alberta’s constitutional rights and drive strong economic growth.
Schulz, who resigned as children’s services minister earlier in the day, says Albertans want to see humility and honesty in their government.
They need a leader to get the party back on track, and rebuild trust through common sense, compassion and sticking to conservative roots, she says.
