MEDICINE HAT — Higher prices for gasoline, goods and services and food are putting real pressure on Canadian families.

Tomorrow, June 9, CHAT 94.5, Mr Lube and the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub are teaming up to help fill a particular need.

Basics for Babies has become an annual event, as the one day drive looks to help provide necessities for infants and their families.

June 9 from 6 am to 6 pm, donations will be accepted at Mr Lube on Kingsway Avenue Southeast.

Melissa Mullis is the interim executive director for the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub, and says the need is greater than ever in our community.

“We will be accepting diapers, formula and wipes,” says Mullis.

If you’re unable to make it to Mr Lube on Thursday, there’s also the provision to donate via e-transfer.

The address is donate@mhfoodbank.com and Mullis says to be sure to put donor information in the memo to receive a tax receipt.

Mullis says diapers for smaller infants, with sizes from newborn to 1 and 2, are most in demand.

As well families are also struggling to provide formula , and any donation is greatly appreciated.
