Applications for Alberta Jobs Now reopens Friday
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The provincial government is taking steps to help address a labour shortage in the province.
Applications for Alberta Jobs Now reopen on Friday, June 3. Eligible employers can hire and train up to 10 new full or part-time workers. Grants would cover 25 per cent of an employee’s annual salary up to a maximum of $25,000 per employee.
The government also announced support for Albertans who have been out of work for several weeks. Employers will be eligible to receive up to $37,500 dollars to support a new position if its filled by someone who has been out of work for at least 27 consecutive weeks.
More than 12,600 Albertans are currently working in positions approved under Alberta Jobs Now. The program was created amid pandemic challenges last year with the goal of getting Albertans back to work. It has since evolved to address current labour shortages in several areas including food and beverage, transport, and retail.
