REDCLIFF, AB- The Redcliff skatepark has some more trees , all thanks to volunteers.

A tree dedication ceremony was held on Saturday. Eight trees were planted around the park, each dedicated to a community group , and all the tireless work they do.

The Redcliff Library, Victims Services, IF Cox School , Redcliff Family and Community Services, Redcliff Youth Centre and the Gordon Memorial United Church were among some of the groups recognized.

Redcliff Mayor Dwight Kilpatrick says volunteers are crucial towards making the town the great place that it is .

” Community volunteers are important anywhere. In Redcliff, as I alluded to earlier there are probably 50 plus groups in redcliff that do various things. They keep churches open, they keep museams open, they raise money. There’s minor hockey, there is figure skating, all those groups raise money, keep the costs down for people that actually use those services and without them. This wouldn’t even be a community.” he said.

Each tree got a small plaque with the name of the organization on it.

The tree dedication ceremony was put on by the Town of Redcliff.
