STRATHMORE, AB – Strathmore RCMP has arrested a suspect in relation to the May 5 robbery of a Dunmore gun club. The suspect had forced their way into the club and stole several handguns and other restricted firearms.

Through the investigation, the RCMP was able to identify a suspect who could possibly be living in Strathmore which is over two hours away.

Strathmore General Investigation Section (GIS) conducted a search in order to try and locate the suspect. During its efforts, a man matching the description was spotted walking in the area, but fled after seeing the arrival of a marked police vehicle.

After losing the suspect temporarily, Strathmore RCMP was able to relocate him and place him under arrest. RCMP found a backpack the suspect had discarded while being pursued by police. Inside, Mounties found three handguns, one restricted rifle, a large amount of cocaine, ammunition, and $8,000 in cash.

After obtaining a search warrant for the local residence where the man was staying, RCMP seized several items in relation to the Dunmore break-in, including cash, drugs, and ammunition.

21-year-old Josh Munroe of Strathmore has been charged in relation to the Dunmore break and enter and remains in custody before he is brought in front of a judge.
