LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Calgary man will face a trial early next year in connection to an investigation into alleged human trafficking.

Ziyaad Noor, 38, was arrested by Lethbridge police in August 2021.

He is charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault – party to an offence with another person, aggravated sexual assault, and trafficking persons under 18.

Noor plead not guilty to all counts back in March 2022 and elected a trial in provincial court.

He is among a group of 10 people facing charges, none of whom are considered by the courts to be co-accused, but rather, charged in related matters.

Meriton Krasniqi and Khaled Alsaid entered pleas of not guilty earlier this year.

Two underaged girls, aged 13 and 15 at the time, alleged that they were sexually exploited, sexually assaulted, and trafficked.

Noor’s trial is scheduled to run from Jan. 11-13, 2023.
