Medicine Hat College launches online competition for local high schools

May 4, 2022 | 4:32 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat College has come up with a creative way to get local high schoolers thinking about their futures.

The college has teamed up with ChatterHigh, an online quiz which pits schools from several school districts across the city and area in friendly competition.

Students complete a 10-question online quiz every day, with topics ranging from post-secondary options to career and employment opportunities. Landon Heilman, student recruitment coordinator for Medicine Hat College, says informing students in this way gives them the opportunity to explore and learn about their options their way, rather than traditional recruitment methods.

“Students are often inundated with information and whether it’s their parents or whether it’s outside factors about what they are going to be doing after high school,” Heilman says. “ChatterHigh and this competition creates a way for them to learn about their options in a fun, interactive way so that they’re more prepared after high school, and of course, the prize part at the end is just an extra bonus on top of it.”

The $1,500 prize will be awarded and shared between the top three schools. The competition is already underway and will run until May 20.
