ADM flour mill to be repurposed into green energy hub

May 3, 2022 | 12:21 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A historical mainstay could be revived in the name of green energy.

Local contractor Casey Van Maarion made a pitch to city council last night about his intention to purchase the ADM flour mill and repurpose it to create and manufacture screw pilings for solar projects.

Van Maarion says repurposing the site would attract industries across the entire energy sector.

“The future is now, and our community is at the epicentre of billions of dollars of projects in the queue,” Van Maarion says. “Medicine Hat is unique to where renewables meets oil and gas. 12-twenty 2’s vision is to utilize our commodities and knowledge to accelerate the growth within our community and once again not only make this building a landmark in our community, but recognized throughout the world.”

Council would not be making any decisions on the proposed purchase as of yet, but were glad to hear about the potential of the site.
