RCMP have laid charges in relation to a stabbing that occurred at the Pigeon Lake Regional School this week.

Mounties say the victim of the stabbing remains in hospital in stable condition.

RCMP have charged a 16-year-old male youth with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

The youth has been released from custody on conditions. His next court appearance is set for June 1, at Wetaskiwin youth court.

On Monday, April 25, RCMP responded to a call from Pigeon Lake Regional School in Falun, where they helped an air ambulance get a teenage boy to an Edmonton hospital.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff confirmed both the suspect and victim are enrolled at the school.

Some 250 students from Grades 7 to 12 attend the school.
