Extended hours, additional programs coming to Crestwood Recreation Centre

Apr 25, 2022 | 10:46 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Weekday hours will be extended at the Crestwood Recreation Centre and the city will start offering new programs in the evenings.

Starting on May 2, the centre will be open from 5:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays. The extended hours apply to the pool, fitness area and racquetball court.

“We know residents have been eager to have the pool open later in the evenings and we’re thrilled to be able to offer the community more opportunities to use the pool and fitness areas,” said James Will, director of the City of Medicine Hat Parks & Recreation Department. “The extended hours will allow time for school and community groups to access the pool as well.”

With the extra hours, more lane swim times have been added, along with public swimming times and an evening aquafit class. A new yoga class is available for members of all ages and abilities on Tuesdays and Thursdays. More information and registration details on these programs are available on the city’s website.

The Medicine Hat Waves swim club will make its return to Crestwood Rec Centre, practising from 4:30-6 p.m. throughout the week.

The city’s Fair Entry program can help low-income individuals and families access city programs. People can save up to 50 per cent on regular-priced programs and admission. Learn more and download a copy of the application form on the city website.

The centre was closed in the early days of the pandemic and only began reopening in February.
