City’s gas infrastructure inspection starting

Apr 25, 2022 | 2:10 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Crews with the City of Medicine Hat’s gas distribution department have started the annual leak survey and infrastructure assessment on the network.

This year’s survey includes 7,548 residential and commercial services, highlighted on the map below.

Workers will need access to the exterior of each property and the city says due to the quantity of infrastructure being examined it is not possible to seek permission from each property owner prior to entering their yards. The city’s contractor will be in and around each yard surveying pipe, risers, regulators, meters or more. Contractors will carry City of Medicine Hat photo identification at all times, which will be presented upon request.

Crews with gas distribution will begin with surveys in the Crestwood and Southview areas. This work is expected to be completed between May 2 and May 10. Updates will be provided to residents through the city’s social media channels.

Trained contractors inspect critical infrastructure each year to evaluate and maintain the integrity of the natural gas delivery system.

Public inquiries can be directed to the Gas Distribution office at 403-529-8190.
