Police Point Park presenting inaugural Earth Day Bash

Apr 18, 2022 | 3:14 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – There’s no place in Medicine Hat more appropriate to mark Earth Day than Police Point Park, where staff have big plans for April 23.

“Saturday will be our Earth Day Bash, the very first event of its kind here at Police Point Park,” says chief interpreter Alicia Lew.

Participants will be encouraged to stroll through the park to meet some of the critters and visit specific stations. Those will feature programs like Reduce Reuse Recycle, Rocks and Fossils and Critters that Crawl.

“Basically, people can come down and get a passport, a paper passport and go to each station, complete a challenge and then earn a stamp,” explains Lew. “And then at the end, if they cash in their passport here at the Nature Centre they can be entered to win a draw for a prize.”

There will be art and hands-on learning, and park interpreters will teach you what you can do to protect the planet through programs.

Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22 and the theme for 2022 is Invest in Our Planet.

There is no cost for the event but donations to the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program will be accepted.
