MEDICINE HAT, AB – The spring and summer calendar for the Esplanade Theatre is filling up.

On Monday it was announced that Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Jann Arden will perform here on June 30. Arden is a multi-platinum, award-winning singer, songwriter, actor and author. She released her 15th studio album, “Descendant,” on Jan. 28.

Arden is best known for the hit songs “I Would Die For You” and “Insensitive.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 14.

Also announced on Monday was Jubilee Wahltz, where the Medicine Hat Concert Band Society performs a concert of favourites honouring Bill Wahl. Wahl, the founder and conductor of the Medicine Hat Concert Band Society, is passing on the baton after 50 years of sharing his passion for music-making and bands here in the city.

Tickets for that show are also on sale April 14.

Other recent announcements include St. Mary’s School’s production of Matilda Jr. The Musical and Jason Mraz, the voice behind the hit love song “I’m Yours.”

Previously announced shows coming up in the next month include Classic Albums Live’s The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (April 15) and Menopause The Musical (May 14 and 15).

Randy Bachman’s Greatest Stories Ever Told was to be at the Esplanade on May 5, but Bachman has had to cancel upcoming shows for personal health reasons.
