Cash crunch becoming acute at Safety City

Jessica St. Pierre says they’ve been able to obtain some funding, and Methanex has picked up sponsorship of programs next November.

But she says there’s still a large hole in their budget that will allow them to operate not just until the end of this school year, but beyond.

“We’re looking at $150,000, and that will take us to the end of June 2023,” says St. Pierre.

“That’s for all of our programs to operate, all of our building expenses, anything we need to update or fix or anything like that,” adds St. Pierre.

St. Pierre says their message has been well received, but it takes time for grant applications to be decided upon and other boards to approve funding.

She says Safety City is still operating with limited capacity, but they do need help now, as some programs in May and June may not happen otherwise.
