It was an all out race to get eggs Saturday morning as hundreds of kids took part in the first annual Medicine Hat’s Best Easter Egg Hunt.

From classic chocolate eggs, to eggs filled with toys and other prizes, the push to get the best of the crop was strong, with a few lucky ones coming home with something far too big to stuff in an egg, a T.V

” It was really fun, there was alot of chocolate everywhere,” one girl said.

” It is very different from Calgary’s easter hunt. It was more special , and inviting,” another girl said.

Wanting to give kids something fun to do this Easter, amid two years of COVID-19, the event was put on by Mark Pellerin of Fire Dragon Taekwondo , and BGSA Radiology.

” We have seen over the last few years the hardships kids are going through and so that is what kind of drove us,” he said.

Pellerin said between 2000 to 2500 kids took part in event and about 22,000 eggs were given out. Ultimately Pellerin said it was smiles on the children’s faces that made it all worth it.

“People are just itching to get out, after two years of COVID-19 children have not had enough to do so it was just great to see these kids in the community smiling hoping, and having a great time. ”

A second annual Easter Egg hunt is already being planned, and Pellerin said Hatters can expect it to be even bigger next year.
