City adds Assessment Information, two other widgets to myMH portal

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Three new widgets have been added to the City of Medicine Hat’s online myMH portal.

Users can now add Assessment Information, Trails Near Me and Volunteer Opportunities to their custom, personalized portal.

The three join existing widgets like News, Community Events, Road Closures, Major Projects, eUtility and more.

“We are really trying to offer an environment where residents use the myMH Portal for your information, and the City website for more information,” says Craig Fruin, manager of application services at the City of Medicine Hat. “Users have even more flexibility in the portal to set certain push notifications on a widget-by-widget basis to alert them directly of the info that is most important to them.”

In a news release, the city provides details on the three new widgets:

  • The Assessment Information widget automatically recognizes the property selected in the user’s profile and brings up the most recent assessed value of the property, the corresponding Tax Account number, the year the property was built, and a link to the most recent comparable market sales information in the area. Users can click the property address to be directed to the interactive property assessment map for further information and analysis.
  • The Trails Near Me widget identifies the nearest trails located within 500 metres of the property selected in the user’s profile. The widget identifies how far a person would need to walk or travel to access the trail, the length of the trail itself, and the material from which the trail is constructed. A click on the trail name will take the user directly to the location of the specific trail on the city’s iMap. Selecting “View more” will provide trail usage information and links to access the Trailforks app on Google Play and the App Store.
  • The Volunteer Opportunities widget allows direct access to the city’s volunteer scheduling system for opportunities at places like Co-op Place, Esplanade and more, and also a link to an area on the city’s website detailing additional positions like Adopt-a-rink, Advisory Boards and Committees, or the Parks and Trails Ambassador program.

Upgrades and enhancements of myMH are ongoing. Staff are currently working to make the current Property Tax widget an integrated widget that will bring personalized tax information right onto the page.

“This is a living, growing platform and we look forward to what possibilities lie ahead,” adds Fruin.

The myMH Portal launched last September at the same time the city upgraded its website. The project was supported through the federal government’s COVID-19 Resilience funding stream under the existing Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
