MEDICINE HAT,AB– The city’s downtown core will be home to more food trucks. Beginning this Wednesday, Wicked Wednesday, will be taking place.

The event will feature up to 12 local food trucks at the Core Association parking lot from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Event organizers say they hope to run the event until the snow comes to help drive more people to the downtown core.

“Ultimately I would just love to be able to drive traffic, and have it open where folks can enjoy the night life and the great local bars that are out here, so they can stop and get a snack with us, and get a full meal with us so they can continue on their way but also be able to have it where families can get a full meal,” stated Spectrum chair and organizer Justin Wright.

” It will give an opportunity for some of the businesses if they want to stay open late because people will be in the area,” added downtown business owner and organizer Bill Woolmer.

Brad Russell owns the Donut Commander Food Truck, and he said he is excited to participate

“COVID-19 has been going on and there has not been a lot for people to look forward to, and it is always nice to come downtown, and buy a bag of donuts and walk the streets,” he said.

In the summer months, the event will be held in conjunction with Alive after Five, which will be held from June 22- Aug. 17 at Riverside Veterans’ Memorial Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
