MEDICINE HAT, AB- Two members of the Medicine Hat Fire Service are camping out on the roof of Fire Station 2 on Trans Canada Way, all to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.

The annual roof top camp-out kicked off today.

The Medicine Hat Fire Service aims to raise $13, 000 this year for Muscular Distrophy Canada. The fire service has been fundraising for Muscular Distrophy Canada since 1971 and they have raised over $355,000 to date.

The two firemen, Luke Oegema, and Vaughn Row, who are relatively new to the fire service will be bracing the elements until Sunday at noon.

Fire Service member Dylan Gustafson says he is confident the two men will be able to make it through whatever mother nature throws at them.

“They are pretty prepared. We got a tent. We got a heater in there for them but I don’t think it will be too cold this year it looks like it is going to be a little nicer. We had snow last year . But it should be alright they are tough,” Gustafson said.

The two firemen will be fed throughout the night thanks to the support of their local sponsors the Madhatter Roastery, Prairie Kettle Deli and StrEats Med Hat Kitchen.

Donations can be made in person at station 2 on Trans Canada Way or online through their fill the boot campaign.
