REDCLIFF, AB- A local Redcliff man has been running to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

Inspired by David Goggins, an ultra maraton runner and personal trainer, Ryan Werre, a local realtor set out for two days to complete the 4×4 x48 challenge.

“Essentially you have to run four miles every four hours for 48 hours straight.”

Werre started running on Thursday and finished Saturday night.

“It’s brutal to be honest. I started at 9p.m. on Thursday and you go 9p.m., 1a.m. 5a.m. 9a.m. 1p.m. and you just keep going for two days straight. So you are kind of battling physical fatigue but also mental fatigue and you are just tired all the time,”

Werre said the second day is the hardest to stay motivated.

” So I kind of made a few rules for myself. I can’t lay down on anything comfy or I will be done, and alot of small snacks and to stay hydrated but it is tough but that is the whole point of the challenge,” he said.

Werre raised over $5000 for the Ronald McDonald House. A former employee of the Monarch Corporation, Werre wanted to support the Ronald McDonald House because Mr. Bill Yuill played a critical role in getting the home built.

“I just think the Ronald McDonald House there is no better charity to raise money for,” he said.

The Yuill Family Foundation has agreed to match the funds.
