Lockout ends as MLB, players reach deal

Mar 10, 2022 | 1:39 PM

Baseball writers north and south of the border are reporting that Major League Baseball and the players union have reached a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Jeff Passan of ESPN tweeted the news Thursday afternoon.

Passan reports the deal will salvage a full 162-game schedule this season. Games were previously cancelled through April 13, but the plan is to make those games up on off-days and with doubleheaders.

The union’s executive board approved the agreement in a 26-12 vote, pending ratification by all players, a person familiar with the balloting said, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no announcement was authorized.
