MEDICINE HAT, AB – The night show committee hopes its lineup for the 2022 Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede will attract lovers of ’90s country, new country and classic rock and pop.

This year’s event, from July 27-30, will be a full-blown open summer fair, with three full concert nights.

The shows start on Wednesday with Trace Adkins and Nate Haller. On Thursday night hometown girl MacKenzie Porter will perform and the week will end with The Beach Boys and frontman Mike Love on Saturday.

“We work very hard every year to bring a balanced type of night show package to people,” says night show committee chair Marni Fisher. “We try to include all different genres and likes from younger people to the classics. So I think we’ve done a really good job of that this year.”

Stampede general manager Ron Edwards calls it one heck of a package and that the night show committee did a great job.

Ticket packages start at $169 and go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday on the Stampede website and in person at the office.

The night show announcement gets most of the fanfare but Stampede officials had other news to share.

The Broncs & Honky Tonks Indoor Spring Rodeo returns April 22-24, the same weekend as the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce’s Sunshine Home & Garden Show. With the trade show in the pavillion, the traditional dance will take place “down in the dirt” following the rodeo.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association will return June 16-19 and the Global FMX Freestyle Motorcycle and Snowmobile Show is back on Aug. 17-18.

There’s also the annual Beef and Pen Show in December and other events that pop up throughout the year, says Edwards.

A full schedule is a welcome change from what the Stampede faced the past two years.

“I can’t kid you it’s been tough for everybody these past two years financially and we’re no different but you know we’ve kept our head above water,” Edwards says. “We’ve done some rentals and things like that and you know I think the government’s been fair to everybody and we’re just looking forward to getting started and doing our whole thing.”
