Changes made to City Hall public access and capacity limits

Feb 14, 2022 | 3:23 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Regular public access has been reopened at Medicine Hat City Hall.

Effective today, the citizens can enter city hall through any of the three public entrances – the southwest corner of building near the sundial, the east-facing main entrance at the clock tower and the parkade elevator.

The public occupancy limits for council chambers are removed and residents are welcome back in person.

As well, the two-hour free public parking in the underground parkade is reinstated and commissionaires will not be at the entrances to monitor access and will return to standard security duties.

Capacity limits remain in effect for other internal boardrooms, limiting public attendance for standing committee meetings. Remote attendance continues to be available until further notice.

Staff and patrons are still required to wear masks indoors, and other measures like barriers, sanitization stations and physical distancing remain in place.

Anyone who wants to continue doing business remotely can visit medicinehat.ca or call 403-529-8100.

The city removed proof of vaccination requirements at public facilities that operated under the Restrictions Exemption Program last week.
