4.2 magnitude earthquake hits south of Grande Prairie

Earthquakes Canada says a 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit 77 kilometres south of Grande Prairie.

The shake occurred at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday and was recorded at 10 kilometers deep. The epicentre of the earthquake was just south Musreau Lake.

Earthquakes can happen in the Peace Region, however, are not very common. According to the website earthquaketrack.com, the last earthquake to happen close to here occurred near Fox Creek six years ago.
