Campaign disclosure statements due soon
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Municipal election candidates have less than one month to submit campaign disclosure statements to avoid a late filing fee.
The deadline to submit revenue and expense disclosure is March 1. Those who don’t file by that date will be charged a $500 late filing fee.
Legislation requires the disclosure statements be filed with the office of the returning officer before 4:30 p.m. that day.
“Campaign disclosure records include a list of campaign contributions such as revenues, donations and expenses,” explains Angela Cruickshank. “That requirement is in force for all candidates, even those that self-funded their campaigns.”
