Online sessions for feedback on draft K-6 curriculum

Jan 27, 2022 | 10:18 AM

The Alberta government has set dates for virtual engagement sessions to give feedback on the draft Kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum.

South Zone residents can attend online meetings on individual school subjects throughout the month of February.

Education Minister Adriana LaGrange says the sessions will allow for focused conversations and specific, constructive feedback.

“I encourage Albertans to participate and have their say. The steps we are taking now to listen to additional input will help ensure our elementary students are learning from the best curriculum possible,” she states in a release.

Dates and times for South Zone meetings:

Albertans register for sessions and sign up for notifications about upcoming engagements on the provincial website.

The government says that in the spring it will review the feedback from engagements and classroom piloting. The input will be used to finalize the social studies design blueprint, develop the curriculum and revise other subjects in the draft curriculum.

The province encourages people to participate in their own region, but they have the flexibility to attend any session that works best for them. The maximum number of participants for each session is capped at 120, and kids can participate with a parent.
