Damage contained to one structure

No injuries at Parkview neighbourhood house fire

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Smoke could be seen Thursday night coming from a home in the Parkview neighbourhood.

A call came in around 6:15 p.m. of a report of a structure fire from the owner of the house. The owner was not inside the house when the call was made.

Firefighters responded quickly and the fire was put out fast.

“At this point, we can confirm that there is nobody in the house, no injuries so the scene is just being made safe right now,” Chief Officer on-call Merrick Brown said just after 7 p.m.

The majority of the fire damage is in the back of the residence and was contained to one structure and didn’t spread to other houses.

The cause of the fire is unknown and a fire investigation will take place.
