New owners for long-term-care facility but no changes expected for staff or residents

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat long-term-care facility is being sold to a Calgary-based company but nothing is said to change for residents or staff.

Pending provincial regulatory approval which should be completed in the next several months, Riverview Long Term Care home will be sold from Revera to AgeCare.

A letter to staff says the change is expected to be seamless and all employees in the home will be offered a job.

However, a current staff member did share some concerns that their union is in active negotiations and current employees don’t have a contract, leaving them vulnerable with the new ownership.
