New RCMP app to help keep Albertans informed

Jan 10, 2022 | 5:08 PM

REDCLIFF, AB – A new mobile app from the RCMP will help keep Albertans informed about what’s happening in their communities and elsewhere in the province.

Sgt. Al Rivard, acting Redcliff RCMP detachment commander, says Mounties wanted to provide an easy access tool for the public to access online crime reporting, organizational news detachment locations and more.

He says he thinks people will be happy to see how much information is on there.

“Typically if someone is looking for advice or trying to reach out to try and find some information or crime stats for their community, crime mapping, you know sometimes people don’t really know necessarily where to find those things,” Rivard says. “So you may be searching around the web or trying to figure out where those things are located. But with our app, everything is all right there for you.”

The app also features crime mapping, crime statistics for individual communities and links to other law enforcement agencies and even mental health supports.

Rivard says he’s looking forward to seeing how the app is going to better inform and support the communities that we serve.

The app is available for free through the Apple and Google Play stores
