Medicine Hat Fire Service reminding residents to maintain furnaces
MEDICINE HAT,AB– With blistering cold temperatures expected to remain for much of the week, the Medicine Hat Fire Service is encouraging residents to check up on that furnace, which is likely working in overdrive to keep you warm this winter.
Acting Platoon Chief Steven Seymour said it is important to ensure that your furnace has been serviced and that a clean filter has been placed inside before your home ends up in the cold.
He said issues with the furnace can be common this time of year.
“A lot of times we will see furnaces when they first start up cause grief because of the dust settling, and it goes through the burning element. But with cold temperatures, if a furnace isn’t working properly it will probably show signs,” he said.
