‘We’ll take anything’: Caring Coats campaign in desperate need of donations

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Everyone knows the comfort and security of having a warm coat and a pair of gloves on a cold day. But not everyone has a coat, gloves or other winter wear.

The Caring Coats campaign seeks to get those items to the people who need them most.

Salvation Army Resource Centre manager Val Hadwen says donations are slow this year and they are in desperate need of one thing in particular.

“We have absolutely no gloves or mitts right now and we need lots of those,” she says. “Men’s coats there’s always a need for them more than women’s coats. We certainly need coats but the big need right now is mitts and gloves.”

Items can be dropped off at the resource centre, located in the basement around the back at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, 476 Fourth Street SE.

For more information call the resource centre at 403-548-3247.
