Dec 22, 2021 | 9:41 AM

BROOKS, AB – Three people are charged following a pair of break and enters in Brooks over the weekend.

RCMP in that city say they responded to a call of a break and enter in progress just after 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 19 near Fraser Avenue and Second Street West.

The suspects had fled by the time police arrived, but CCTV footage identified a suspect vehicle. The vehicle was soon located in the area of Second Street and Upland Boulevard West and a traffic stop was initiated. Investigation determined that the three occupants of the vehicle were involved in the break and enter and were subsequently arrested.

Further investigation revealed the three had also committed a break and enter at another business in the area of Cassils Road and Second Street West in Brooks earlier that day.

Kevin Sanford, 46, Donald Perini, 46, and James Shaw, 43, have been jointly charged with two counts of break and enter with intent, two counts of mischief under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and other related charges.

After a judicial hearing, Sanford did not speak to bail after a hearing and was remanded to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on Dec. 22.

Perini and Shaw were released from custody on their promise to pay $1,250 each and are scheduled to appear on Jan. 12, 2022 in Brooks Provincial Court
