Appeal for help goes out for area farm family

MEDICINE HAT — The Medicine Hat Feeding Company is hoping to help an area rancher and employee, who is facing financial challenges again, this time as a result of health issues.

Syd McCurdy and his family were among those hit hard by the devastating wildfire in the Hilda area in October of 2017.

185 cows in his herd of cattle were lost in that fire, and a special benefit auction at the Feeding Company raised money to help his family at that time.

McCurdy is currently in hospital in Calgary facing a serious health issue and Lyle Taylor at the Medicine Hat Feeding company says they’re hoping people will step up and help the family again.

Taylor says McCurdy’s wife and sons have been with their father at the hospital for the last two weeks.

“There’s costs associated with that, and I know the boys, one from Kelowna and one from the farm have gone to stay, with obvious costs there as well,” says Taylor.

Taylor says the Feeding Company is accepting donations on behalf of the McCurdy family, either in person, by phone or in the mail.

Receipts will be issued to those who donate.
