BATUS to remain open

MEDICINE HAT — Britain’s Ministry of Defence says it’s not planning to close its army training base at CFB Suffield.

Reports in British media had said the British government would be leaving BATUS to move to the Middle East.

But in a Tweet this morning, Britain’s Ministry of Defence says Canada is one of the UK’s oldest and closest allies, and contrary to reports, it is not closing BATUS.

The ministry says BATUS will continue to be a vital training base for the British Army.
