MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city has added two information sessions next week to get public input on recreation amenities and facilities in Medicine Hat.

City of Medicine Hat staff from various departments will be at the auditorium at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede on Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 6-9 p.m. The session is intended for greater one-on-one conversations between city staff and the public on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the future of recreation facilities in Medicine Hat.

Another session will take place the same day from 2-4 p.m. at the Veiner Centre.

“We want to connect residents with the staff behind the planning and decision-making process to help explain the direction of this process and how it ties in with the bigger picture, including the Municipal Development Plan and more,” said Scott Richter, manager of business and innovation from Parks & Recreation. “We’re thrilled to continue these conversations in the community and have heard great feedback already.”

Both the Stampede and Veiner Centre are participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program. Proof of vaccination, exemption or negative COVID test will be required to enter the facility, and masking is mandatory inside the building for the duration of the event. Details are available on the city website.

Community members can also share their thoughts online.

A survey and an online forum are available on the city’s public engagement website, Shape Your City. Both are open until 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.
