New COVID-19 case counts remain low in Medicine Hat

There are 71 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat on Monday.

Medicine Hat has had 4,458 total cases – the 71 active, 4,309 recovered and there have been 78 deaths.

There are 10 new cases in the city since the Friday update and 21 new recoveries.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Monday that there are currently 64 COVID-19 positive inpatients in the South Zone with 14 of those in the ICU. There are 17 inpatients at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with 2 in the ICU.

Chinook Regional Hospital has 29 with 12 in the ICU. Cardston Health Centre has six inpatients; Pincher Creek Heath Centre and Taber Health Centre have three each; Brooks Health Centre has two; Bow Island Health Centre and Raymond Health Centre have one each.

Among Hatters 12 and over, 84.2 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 78.4 per cent are fully vaccinated.

73.1 per cent of all Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update and 68.1 per cent of Hatters are fully vaccinated.

There are 6,387 active cases in the province, up one from the last update Friday, and 317,741 recovered cases in the province, up 1,286.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 327,283.

There are 1,300 new cases in the province since the Friday update

There are now 608 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 135 of which are in ICU, and 3,155 deaths.

The province completed 25,987 tests since the Friday update.

The positivity rate is about 5 per cent.

Alberta has administered 6,631,562 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Among new cases today, 54.6 per cent are unvaccinated, 5.8 per cent are partially vaccinated and 39.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among current hospitalizations, 71.2 per cent are unvaccinated, 4.3 per cent are partially vaccinated and 24.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Province-wide, 87.5 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 81.2 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Alberta’s total population, 74.4 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 69.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are seven local outbreaks listed on AHS website.

There are no local schools on Outbreak status. Three schools in Medicine Hat are on Alert status, as well as one in the surrounding area.

There are 589 active cases and 21,694 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 279.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of Oct. 25-31 is 0.87. It is 0.91 in Calgary Zone, 0.90 in Edmonton Zone and 0.84 in the rest of Alberta.

It’s updated every two weeks. At the last update from Oct. 11-17 the numbers were 0.85 in the province, 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.85 in Edmonton Zone and 0.84 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 844 cases. There are 24 active cases, 815 recovered and six deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 65.2 per cent, the two-dose rate is 59.8.

The County of Forty Mile has 341 total cases. There are 15 active cases, 321 recovered and there have been five deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 40.5 per cent, the two-dose rate is 35.5.

The MD of Taber has 1,245 total cases — 36 active cases, 1,194 recovered and there have been 15 deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 46.7 per cent, the two-dose rate is 42.4.

Special Areas No. 2 has 238 total cases – three active cases, 232 recovered and there have been three deaths.

Brooks has 2,085 total cases — 17 active cases and 2,044 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 24 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 483 cases — 24 active cases, 452 recovered and there have been seven deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 65.2 per cent, the two-dose rate is 58.3. The Newell numbers include the city of Brooks.

The County of Warner has 763 total cases. There are 32 active cases, 727 are recovered cases and there have been four deaths in the county. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 58.3 per cent, the two-dose rate is 52.4.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 6,989 cases. There are 182 active cases, 6,747 recovered and there have been 60 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,921 cases, 43 active cases, 1,859 recovered and there have been 19 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Nov. 7, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 78,824 cases, 1,527 considered active. There are 76,424 recovered cases and there have been 873 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
