MEDICINE HAT, AB — A 39-year-old city man will be sentenced in the new year, after pleading guilty to driving while impaired causing bodily harm.

Regan Glauser entered the guilty plea at what was supposed to be the start of a five-day trial in Court of Queens Bench Medicine Hat on Monday.

He was charged after a crash on the evening of Jan. 25, 2019.

Glauser’s pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic on Hill Road SE, colliding with a minivan.

The van was carrying a mother and her two-year-old child.

The infant suffered a fractured and displaced vertebrae in his spine and required treatment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary.

A date for sentencing is expected to be set on Dec. 17.
